Currently we have approximately 175,000 square feet of combined freezer, cooler, and dry space. Our top of the line facilities and fleet of 40 multi-temp trucks enable us to do what we do best... service our customers.

Our Values

How It All Began...

Tankersley Foodservice was founded in 1944 in downtown Fort Smith, Arkansas as a small frozen foods distributor. Originally, it was named Tankersley Bros. Frozen Food after the four Tankersley brothers who owned the company. Woody, Ross, Pete, and Walter Sr. had started White Dairy Ice Cream Company in 1929 and decided to get into the food distribution business 15 years later.

They distributed frozen and institutional foods products around the Fort Smith region along with their own Tankersley meats which they packed at their nearby Tankersley Meat Packing Company.

Walter Sr. ran Tankersley Bros. for nearly 50 years and today his son Don is the CEO and principal share holder.

Don grew up in the business and was named president of White Dairy in 1974. In 1998 he sold White Dairy to Hiland Dairy and found himself in a strange position. What was he going to do next? At the time, Tankersley Bros. was still working out of an assortment of outdated facilities in downtown Fort Smith. He knew he needed everything under one roof to make Tankersley work. Oddly enough, the perfect opportunity presented itself just down the road in Van Buren when a grocery distribution center went up for sale. It was then he decided to take the biggest risk of his life and purchase this 125,000 square foot facility.

Today we’re still located in that facility, but it looks a little different. We’ve just completed a 30,000 square foot expansion of freezer and cooler dock space to take us to 175,000 square feet. We’re

proud to be the largest independent broad line foodservice company based in Arkansas and Oklahoma, and our motto of “Whatever it Takes” is how we’ve achieved this. We distinguish ourselves by putting our customers first and providing service second to none.
